Immigration bonds are issued to a person during the civil proceedings that determine their right to remain a legal resident. Some helpful things to know and bring are:

• Name, Alien Registration Number, home address, date of birth, and country of birth
• Name of the place where the accused is being held
• Bond Amount
• Name, valid address, social security number, phone number of the person posting the bond for the person receiving the bond

Acceptable form of identification such as:

• Permanent Resident Card
• Passport with appropriate stamps
• Valid driver's license
• State identification with proof of immigration status

There are two types of bonds for people detained by the Immigration and Naturalization Service:

Delivery Bonds and Voluntary Departure Bonds.

Delivery bonds are issued when a person is arrested by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement under a Warrant of Arrest and a Notice of Custody Conditions. The amount of the bond assures the accused alien will appear at court when necessary.

Voluntary Departure Bonds

Allow an alien undergoing removal procedure (deportation) to voluntarily leave the country.
